EWC’s 10th Anniversary Celebration

The Council of Europe has chosen Oslo and the EWC's ten year's anniversary celebration to launch the European Campaign FREE to SPEAK, SAFE to LEARN - Democratic Schools for All. The anniversary conference and campaign launch will be held in Oslo, Norway, 14-16 November 2018.

This 3-year Pan-European campaign will highlight good practices of schools and lift the voices of education professionals and students from all over Europe to provide an inspirational response from practice to policy on the challenges faced by democratic societies in Europe today. You can find more information about the campaign here.

The 10th Anniversary conference will be opened by Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg with 2018 Global Teacher Prize Winner, Andria Zafirakou as keynote speaker. Other prominent speakers at the conference will be Jan Tore Sanner, Norwegian Minister of Education and Integration, Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland, Director General of Democracy, Snezana Samardžić-Marković; and Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Liliia Hrynevych.

“Schools across Europe prove every day that one of the most important roles of education is to build inclusive and democratic societies by developing the democratic engagement and competences of young people. The conference will acknowledge and showcase their important work”, EWC Executive Director Ana Perona-Fjeldstad said.

The conference is fully booked, but EWC will work to share insights from the conference through social media and our web pages. More information about the conference can be found here.
