The participants were addressed by the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Lillia Hrynevych and Ambassador of Norway to Ukraine Ole T. Horpestad.
Pascale Mompoint-Gaillard, Council of Europe expert and co-author of the Council of Europe Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture (RFCDC), presented the Framework and highlighted possibilities of its use in school education. Mompoint-Gaillard stressed the importance of acquiring such competences particularly by young people, because it will help them to build their future in a rapidly changing world.
Participants of the round table came from teacher training institutes and schools across Ukraine, and they used the opportunity to share their experiences on the use of RFCDC in teaching and learning at school and in adult education.
Lars Gudmundson, Deputy Director of EWC, presented the Council of Europe new education campaign “FREE TO SPEAK, SAFE TO LEARN – Democratic Schools for All” and invited schools from all over Ukraine to join the campaign.
