Alumni work in Armenia bears fruits
The work of members from the Summer Academy Alumni Club in Armenia is leading to great results. This summer 54 students and teachers participated in a series of trainings on communication, team building, techniques of participatory education and public speaking.
Jinishian Memorial Foundation-Armenia with participation of Avedissian School in Yerevan continues its human rights and democracy education projects in Armenia’s regional schools. Currently, nearly 120 schools from all over Armenia are involved in the projects.
The best students of those schools participated in a 4-day summer camp at Artur’s Resort in Aghveran. Totally 54 students and teachers took part in a series of trainings on communication, team building, techniques of participatory education, public speaking and more.
All trainings were conducted in an interactive way aimed at making the learning process more interesting and productive. The team of four facilitators used the training materials and educational methodology acquired at Summer Academy 2011 in Poland.
Armenia has a very active network of Summer Academy alumni. The Summer Academy alumni club was set up last year. Since then a number of round-table meetings were arranged to which former alumni were invited. The meetings were supported by the Armenian National Institute of Education, the Ministry of Education and Sciences and the National Assembly Education Committee.
The Club is now firmly established and has three main aims: provision of advanced training in democracy and human rights education for the thirteen Club members; preparation and translation of training materials; and organisation of short-term training for school administrators, educational staff and relevant local NGOs.
EWC is hosting an Alumni Network for participants of the Summer Academies on its online platform Share&Connect. The network enables alumni to build on what they had achieved in school and communities and further their professional development.
Today, this network involves over 130 Academy alumni, who come together to exchange new ideas and resources, organize workshops and events, and search for partner schools across Europe.
