Students became teachers and school head for a week
At the Bilingual School for Romances languages in Burgas, Bulgaria, students and teachers shifted roles for a week.
During the autonomy week, students volunteered to be teachers or school head. They had to write a letter of motivation in order to be selected.
During the week, the selected candidates took on the role of teachers while one was chosen as to be headmistress. The headmistress was tenth grade student Miss Baakalova from the school’s Italian class. She performed her duties with the support of the current school head, Radostina Georgieva.
The autonomy week was part of the schools project, following their participation at the 2015 Regional Summer Academy in Montenegro. The project focused on the role of the student council in creating a democratic environment at the school. The school wanted to improve communication between teachers, students and the school administration as well as create a climate of trust and mutual respect.
