22 July and Democratic Citizenship

Using the terror attacks in Norway 22 July 2011 as a starting point, young people, teachers and other educators learn to creatre a democratic culture and stand up against discrimination, hate speech and extremism through tools and strategies based on education for democratic citizenship and human rights. The programme is a partnership with the learning - and commemoration centres at Utøya and in Oslo.

Learning Democracy at Utøya

Young people visit the 22 July Center and Utøya, participate in trainings and develop their own workshops which afterwards are carried out with their peers in their school and/or local community.


Day visits to Utøya and the 22 July Centre

School classes can visit the Learning and Commemoration centres at Utøya and the 22 July Centre in Oslo to experience the exhibitions and participate in learning activities. The visits are organized in cooperation between Utøya, 22 July Centre and EWC.
