New National Curriculum

Related to: Schools for Democracy in Ukraine

EWC contributes to the development and piloting of the new competence-based national curriculum for 5-9 grades in Ukraine, focusing on fostering democratic competences across all subjects. 

What: Support for curriculum development and piloting of the new national curriculum for 5-9 grades in Ukraine.

For: Curriculum developers, school students, teachers, school heads and teacher trainers

How: Piloting study; policy recommendations; training for teachers participating in piloting; workshops for regional teacher training institutes.

Result: Education for democratic citizenship and human rights is integrated into the national curriculum; national expertise in curriculum development is strengthened; capacity of teacher training institutes is strengthened; teachers are prepared to implement the new curriculum in schools

Khrystyna Chushak

Khrystyna Chushak is Head Programme Coordinator in Ukraine for the EWC programme "Schools for Democracy: Supporting Educational Reforms in Ukraine".

Chushak also works as a research fellow affiliated with the National Academy of Science of Ukraine and holds a PhD in Political Science from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. She has been actively involved in various educational NGOs activities targeted primarily at youth, youth workers and high school teachers since the late 1990s.

Iryna Sabor is responsible for the EWC's projects in Ukraine. She holds a Master's degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of Oslo (Norway) and a Master's in International Economic Relations from the University of Lviv (Ukraine). She has earlier served in the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and was posted at the Embassy of Ukraine in Norway.

Marina Dyshlovska is an Advisor for the programme "Schools for Democracy: Supporting Educational Reforms in Ukraine". Her main responsibilities are to ensure appropriate implementation of the Programme and to report to the donor on Programme results.

Dyshlovska holds a Master’s degree in English and Swedish Philology from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. She previously worked at the Norwegian Embassy in Kyiv as project coordinator.
