The Centre for Ethnicity and Citizenship at the University of Bristol is hosting "The Politics of Misrecognition: An Interdisciplinary Conference" on 22-23 January 2010. What is 'misrecognition' and why does it matter? This conference aims to explore this question, and to consider how the idea of misrecognition can help us understand the interaction and political orientations of different cultures, social movements and state policies.

The European Wergeland Center in cooperation with Oslo University College is organizing the seminar "Religious diversity in intercultural education - policies and practices" on the 2nd of March, 2010. Prof. Robert Jackson from the University of Warwick will be one of the main speakers.

The conference: "Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion in Europe through Education for Democratic Citizenship / Human Rights Education" will be held in Glasgow, March 3-5, 2010, hosted by BEMIS (Black and Ethnic Minorities Infrastructure in Scotland) and DARE (Democracy and Human Rights Education in Adult Learning).

The EWC, the Municipality of Oslo and the Council of Europe are organizing a study visit to Oslo as part of the programme "Intercultural Cities" from 10-12 of March 2010. During the visit, the participants will present their work and discuss various aspects of Oslo related to diversity, immigration and democracy/democratic participation, both in education, politics and business.

The Malmö University, School of Education host the annual Nordic Educational Research Association (NERA) congress on "Active citizenship". The 38th edition of the annual NERA Congress will take place March 11-13, 2010 in Malmö, Sweden.
