The Summer Academy: Democracy at School offers training in the field of education for democratic citizenship and human rights (EDC/HRE) to teams of school heads, teachers and representatives from the local community, such as parents or NGOs.

Summer Academy: Democracy at School, one of the trainers, Andrey Ioffe, has been giving online consultations and guidance to the non-selected teams and other invited teams, in order for them to get familiar with the principles of EDC and HRE and two of the main manuals:
106 participants (teachers, school principals, members of NGO and professors) from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine registered on the platform for the Online Academy. The first step was to get familiar with the manuals, and in January they had developed their action plans and started to develop local projects aimed towards change. All while sharing their experiences, asking questions and receiving support and advice from Ioffe via the platform.
There has been a great diversity in the challenges described and projects developed, ranging from student participation, election processes and different forms of cooperation in and between schools, to air pollution.
17 teams completed the Online Academy, and are in the process of implementing projects in the field of EDC/HRE. The teams included 68 head teachers, teachers and NGO/parents representatives. They will receive course certificates issued and signed by the Council of Europe, Polish Ministry of Education and The European Wergeland Centre.
Two of the teams from the Online Academy will participate in this year’s Summer Academy in Poland.
