The University of Teacher Education Central Switzerland is starting an international advanced qualification, the “Certificate of Advanced Studies CAS in Human Rights Education” in January 2012.

A new statement "Seven theses on teacher education and the purpose of education" by Josef Huber, Head of the Council of Europe Pestalozzi Programme, has been published.

Higher education leaders and representatives of public authorities from the US and Europe gathered in Oslo 27-29 June to focus on the role of higher education in furthering democratic citizenship. Inspirational presentations and fruitful debates and workshops, as well as an outstanding report by the General Rapporteur were some of the highlights from this conference. The high level expert meeting on “Tackling Violence in Schools”, held in Oslo from June 27-28, brought together more than 40 experts from international organizations, NGOs, ministries and governmental authorities, as well as from teacher education institutions.

On Monday 4th July 2011, the anti-racism education charity Show Racism the Red Card will be launching new research which was commissioned to investigate issues of racism and inequality in the education system.
