The Council of Europe organized, in co-operation with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, a conference on “Universities as Actors of Intercultural Dialogue in Wider Society”, in Moscow, June 2009. The EWC Executive Director, Ana Perona-Fjeldstad took part in this conference. The conference report is now available.

The International Association of Universities and Notre Dame University – Louaize are jointly organizing the 2009 IAU International Conference on The Role of Higher Education in Fostering the Culture of Dialogue and Understanding. It will be held at and hosted by Notre Dame University – Louaize in Lebanon, on November 4-6, 2009.

Professor Robert Jackson, Editor of the British Journal of Religious Education, published by Routledge, is delighted to announce that the journal has been selected for inclusion in both the Social Sciences Citation Index® (SSCI) and the Arts & Humanities Citation Index® (A&HCI) from 2008 onwards.

The UN Human Rights Council's Advisory Committee was held from 3-7 August 2009. A brief report on human rights education and training dealt with at this session has been published.

Sixty years ago, 100 members of parliament from twelve European countries – including some of the great founding fathers of the European movement – gathered at the University of Strasbourg for the first ever meeting of the “Consultative Assembly” (soon to become the Parliamentary Assembly) of the Council of Europe.
