Claudia Lenz has a PhD in Political Science, from the University
of Hamburg. Her research is in the fields of history cultures and
didactics of history, focusing on social and political in- and exclusion and
the conditions for active democratic citizenship. She has researched on how historical learning
in intercultural settings can promote democratic competences and the inclusion
of minorities in the democratic negotiation of past and present issues.
She has worked at the Center for Studies of
Holocaust and Religious Minorities in Oslo dealing with issues of Human
Rights education – especially related to processes of reconciliation and
political transformation, which accompany the process of European integration
in many member and aspirant states. She has conducted research in the context
of international comparative projects. Networking on a national, Scandinavian
and European level has been a relevant part of her work and has resulted in
conferences, publications and research applications (latest within the European
Commission’s FP7). She has experience as an educator in the field of adult
education in Germany. Claudia Lenz starts at the EWC in August.
