The EWC welcomes Professor Robert Jackson!
Robert Jackson has been appointed as Professor II in Education and Religious Diversity at the European Wergeland Centre. The post is linked to the Department of Teacher Training and International Studies at Oslo University College and will help to establish links between the European Wergeland Centre, Oslo University College and the University of Warwick, where Professor Jackson is Director of Warwick Religions and Education Research Unit, based in the Warwick Institute of Education.Since 2002, Professor Jackson has been deeply involved in the work of the Council of Europe in relation to its work on the place of the education about religions and beliefs within intercultural, citizenship and human rights education.
Professor Robert Jackson is a leading figure in international debates about religions and education in Europe and beyond.
Professor Jackson speaks regularly at international conferences on religious education and related fields. Last December he spoke about European research in religions and education at the Eurpean Parliament in Brussels and he recently gave a presentation at the second Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, in Istanbul; Understanding the Religions and Worldviews of Others: the Alliance of Civilization's Goals and the Interpretive Approach
