Summer Academy 2012: Participants preparing for the seminar in July

The 10 teams that were selected for the Summer Academy 2012 are already active on the customized online platform. Via the platform, the participants have various pre-seminar tasks, and get to know each other and the trainers.

The online component is an important part of the Summer Academy. The online participation will continue after the seminar, then related to the development and implementation of each team's action plan and the sharing of experiences and good practice, all facilitated and supported by one of the trainers.

This year's team of trainers consists of Lena Styslavska (head trainer, Poland), Andrey Ioffe (head trainer, Russia), Larisa Vasilevska (Bulgaria) and Marzena Rafalska (Poland).

EWC and PIDOP to cooperate on a series of Educators' Consultations in 2013
On April 16 and 17, the second international conference on the project "Processes Influencing Democratic Ownership and Participation"/ PIDOP was held at Surrey University in the UK. PIDOP is a multinational research project funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme. The project has examined the processes which influence democratic ownership and participation in eight European states – Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Sweden, Turkey and the UK.

At a post conference meeting, the PIDOP consortium confirmed plans to cooperate with the EWC on a series of Educators’ Consultations in 2013, focusing on the PIDOP findings. Educational institutions in the countries where PIDOP research has been conducted are encouraged to host such a dissemination event or express interest in taking part. Contact:

Human Rights Education Symposium (HRES) on the topic “Educational Materials of Human Rights Education” held in Luzerne April 28
The Symposium's focus on teaching and learning material mirrored a need to stake stock, communicate about functions and uses of materials as well to communicate about standards and evaluation. In plenary sessions and workshops, these questions were discussed, often related to the presentation of concrete projects and the materials developed and applied by them. EWC held a workshop on the Intercultual Glossary Project.
