The Global Human Rights Leadership Training Institute (GHRLTI) is now accepting applications for the 5th edition of its Certificate Course in Human Rights Leadership Development Training, 10th August - 11th September 2009.

The Global Education & Youth programme of the North-South Centre (NSC) has, since 1999, been organising the Global Education Week (GEW), an annual decentralised event encouraging global education awareness-raising activities within educational and youth settings in the Council of Europe’s (CoE) member States.

The conference "Education and Citizenship in a Globalising World" addressing the challenges of education and citizenship in a globalising world, will be held in central London. It is expected to have a worldwide impact and it will be a truly international event, drawing together scholarship and experience, practice and perspective from across the globe.

The Global On-line Consultation is a participatory process for all stakeholders of drafting a plan of action for the second phase of the World Programme for Human Rights Education (WPHRE). Among others, teacher training and higher education institutions are invited to contribute. Submit your contribution by March 28, 2010.

The conference "Education and Citizenship in a Globalising World" will take place at the University of London, 19-20 November. Academics, researchers from education, sociology, politics, as well as teachers, political or community activists, and those working for NGOs are invited to submit a paper by 11 June 2010.

The University of Oslo organizes the conference "Culture, Civilization and the World – the Semantics of Globalization" from Januar 25-26. EWC's Research Coordinator Dr. Claudia Lenz will be giving a lecture on: "Citizenship – an ambigram in the context of national and global interpretations".

The Human Rights and Governance Grants Program (HRGGP) and the Scholarship Programs of the Open Society Institute announce the Human Rights Internship.

The EWC Executive Director Ana Perona-Fjeldstad and Special Adviser Gunnar Mandt recently visited the North-South Centre to discuss possible collaboration projects and future activities.

The international conference "Educating for Human Rights, Peace and Intercultural Dialogue" will be held from 4-6 November in Sydney. It will examine the contribution of human rights culture to the good functioning of the civil society; highlight key trends and achievements in human rights education in particular, and aim to secure greater commitment for future human rights education.

The Malmö University, School of Education host the annual Nordic Educational Research Association (NERA) congress on "Active citizenship". The 38th edition of the annual NERA Congress will take place March 11-13, 2010 in Malmö, Sweden.
