Jagland signs agreement with MBI Al Jaber Foundation

EWC welcomes its Capacity Builder Coordinator!
Lars Gudmundson has a MA in History of Ideas and Political Sciences from the University of Oslo. He has wide experience from the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research and the Norwegian Directorate for Education and Training. He has actively worked with issues concerning education about religion and strategy plans promoting democratic citizenship in schools. -

EWC meets Norwegian Council for Teacher Education
The EWC participated on April 29 in the Norwegian Council for Teacher Education meeting. With regard to the "Internationalization of Higher Education" Claudia Lenz highlighted several ways of how students can serve as bridge builders between formal education, research and civil societies to foster a culture of democracy and human rights. -

Moscow Conference - Report now available
The Council of Europe organized, in co-operation with the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, a conference on “Universities as Actors of Intercultural Dialogue in Wider Society”, in Moscow, June 2009. The EWC Executive Director, Ana Perona-Fjeldstad took part in this conference. The conference report is now available. -

High Officials attending the EWC Inauguration Event: 28-29 May
The inauguration event marked the opening of the European Wergeland Centre. The Norwegian Royal Family, represented by HRH Crown Princess Mette Marit, attended the opening, as well as ministers, politicians and high level experts. -

The EWC has signed an agreement with the MBI Al Jaber Foundation
The MBI Al Jaber Foundation will support the EWC in its work in the field of education for intercultural understanding, human rights and democratic citizenship. The MBI Foundation and the EWC will cooperate on several research- and capacity building related projects in the forthcoming years. -

The Summer Academy "Democracy at School" will take place from July 10-17, in Sulejówek/ Warsaw.
