The tool was developed during a long process coordinated by the Pestalozzi Programme and the Intercultural Cities project of the Council of Europe and the EWC.

  • CoE/EWC Expert Group

    The Group of Experts working on the Implementation of Recommendation CM/Rec (2008) 12 “Dimension of religions and non-religious convictions within intercultural education” held its 3rd meeting in Oslo from May 2-4, in order to discuss how Council of Europe member states could be supported in implementing the Recommendation.

  • Educators' Consultation in Vienna

    The Educators' Consultation in Vienna took place within the framework of the Austrian EDC Action days. The seminar with a focus on the International Citizenship and Civic Education Study (ICCS) was held successfully on 26st of April. It was co-organized by polis – the Austrian Centre for Citizenship Education in Schools, SORA Institute for Social Research and Consulting and the EWC.

  • EWC and PIDOP to cooperate in 2013

    PIDOP is a multinational research project funded by the European Commission under the Seventh Framework Programme. The PIDOP consortium has confirmed plans to cooperate with the EWC on a series of Educators’ Consultations in 2013, focusing on the PIDOP findings.

  • Seminar in Russia

    Moscow School of Political Studies arranged a seminar on Law, Politics, Economy and Mass Media 03 - 7 April 2012, the seminar took place in Zelenogorsk outside St. Petersburg. Journalists, editors, lawyers and young political leaders coming from all over Russia, as well as representatives from many neighbouring countries took part in the seminar. The whole seminar was broadcasted on the internet.

    Researcher
    Lecturer in the University of Manchester since 2006. Previously Research Fellow at the Centre of European Law and Politics, University of Bremen (ZERP). Main research interests in Human Rights and European Law. Specific topics include the horizontal effects of fundamental rights, EU discrimination law, and asylum-seekers and issues of gender and sexuality. Teaching in EC Law, Discrimination Law and Labour Law.

      Strasbourg celebrates Europe

      The Council of Europe is partner to the City of Strasbourg in celebrating Europe for the entire month of May. Almost 50 events will be organised for the occasion, on several themes: going beyond borders, discovering European cultures, sharing common values, Franco-German friendship, democracy and European citizenship.

      Human Rights Education Symposium

      A Human Rights Education Symposium (HRES) on the topic “Educational Materials of Human Rights Education” was held in Luzerne April 28, 2012. The focus on teaching and learning material mirrored a need to stake stock, communicate about functions and uses of materials as well to communicate about standards and evaluation. In plenary sessions and workshops, these questions were discussed, often related to the presentation of concrete projects and the materials developed and applied by them.

      EEA/Norway Grants Conference and Contact Seminar

      Through the EEA and Norway Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway contribute to reducing disparities in Europe and to strengthening bilateral relations with 15 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe. With governments across Europe struggling to respond to high unemployment levels, there is a renewed urgency in addressing the skills gap. Boosting transnational mobility helps students acquire new skills and strengthens future employability. The EEA and Norway Grants support student mobility through scholarship programmes in 11 countries. Opportunities under the Grants will be presented for educational institutions at a conference in Norway, 26-27 April.

      Shaping Europe - Civic Education in Action

      Call for Applications: A Scholarship Programme for Young Professionals Active in Citizenship Education from Central and South-Eastern Europe. Closing date: May 31st 2012. The German Federal Agency for Civic Education and the Robert Bosch Stiftung are awarding 16 scholarships to young professionals from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Applicants are expected to be already engaged in civic education and promoting democracy and social responsibility in their home countries.
